Artist’s
Statement
Ron Mier is a printmaker and painter, creating monotypes, engravings
and acrylics in bold colors. The compositions are abstract images with
strong linear and organic reference. His images elicit personal and
universal connections. Ron is self taught and has collaborated with
other artists for eighteen years in group shows and printshop settings.
The artist’s work has been displayed in studios and galleries in the
United States and France. Ron Mier currently works in his printshop and
studio in Santa Fe where he was born.
My work expresses moments of quiet reflection and concentrated emotion.
The ideas for my compositions are cultivated and produced in the rich
surroundings of northern New Mexico, inspiring unique and intuitive
work. The monotypes and paintings are a communion between myself and
the medium by building multiple layers of color to achieve dimension
and a translucent quality. My images are created in trancelike
concentration driving the movement of color and form that becomes the
art.
